Hurricane in Florida
Ah, come on! When did people become this way? How powerful do they think the government is? A government that cannot balance a budget suddenly has the power to control two hurricanes over an entire ocean?

What was the first thing you designed?
The first was a poster for an affiliate who was working with Dell at the time. We created flyers, banners, and other website design assets for their marketing campaigns. I also worked with a lot of political candidates in that era, and we created numerous campaign material for posters, roadside banners, websites, and apparel.

Why you used Grammarly
For me, it's manly about typos and tone. I use Grammarly to catch typical spelling mistakes and then use its other features to ensure all content I write is in the right tone. This is especially important for matching my content to my audience and meeting client expectations.

What is the fastest way to make a business popular?
Find a way to go viral and gain mind share. Both of this will ensure people think of your business, product or service first when they think of your category, niche or industry. Also, listen to your customers. People want to feel special, heard, and understood. You are much more likely to build a strong and engaged community if you listen to your customers or community members and give them what they want. Within reason, of course.

DOJ indicates it’s considering Google breakup following monopoly ruling
From how evil Google has been over the last few years, they do deserve everything that is coming to them now. However, I do not want them to fail because I shudder to think what the internet would look like without Google.

Hurricane in Florida
Two hurricanes back to back is like something out of a movie. From what I am seeing on social media and the news, things are bad, and I hope everyone comes out of this in the best shape possible.

Becoming a leader who builds engaging communities
Modern leaders and material on leadership says that the days of leaders just directing are long gone. Instead, today's leadership is about connecting and helping others build strong connections. These days, according to experts, the true measure of a community leader is their ability to foster a thriving, engaged community. A crucial element of doing this is being able to transform followers into a loyal, interactive family and shifting engagement styles from monologue to dialogue. Creating a vibrant ecosystem of ideas and support relies on how well leaders can encourage conversations among your audience, not just with them. Master this, and you will be on your way to becoming a leader who can create thriving, engaging communities. The best leaders are also able to cultivate a shared identity. The best examples of this are "Swifties" or "Beliebers". If you know about these groups, you know the type of community they belong to. A shared identity punctuated by a collective name makes people feel they belong and leads to unity within a community, which, in turn, makes community members feel part of something bigger than themselves. The world is full of distractions, and leaders who are in tune with what is happening understand this. Add a group of followers or a community, and the leader's attention becomes invaluable. Good leaders know how to give their attention generously, and also understand that doing so is one of the best ways of making members of their community feel seen and valued. The best leaders also invite input constantly. Ask questions, seek opinions. Doing both is a great way of validating your members' voices and expertise, making them feel integral to the community's growth. Once you master this, you can take it further by co-creating with your tribe. When doing this, involve them in crucial endeavours like product development and in crucial discussions. Remember, the point is not what you're selling, but rather what you're building together. Once you master the second, the first will come naturally. Crucially, remember that true leadership in the digital era isn't about amassing followers. Rather, it's about nurturing a community where everyone feels they belong and contribute. By implementing the strategies and ideas discussed above, you're not just leading – you're cultivating a thriving ecosystem of engaged, loyal supporters. So, onto you now. What aspect of community building resonates most with your leadership style?

Creating fake members to jumpstart community: yay or nay?
I would say nay. People have become very good at detecting inauthentic people, brands, and platforms. It is much more common for platforms and brands to fail these days due to authenticity issues. We also want to connect to authentic people we can relate to because no one wants to feel deceived or as if they have been made a fool out of. It's just human nature. Fake members can make people feel like this, so I would not do it myself.

Do you make use of Amercian or British English when you write?
Both, it depends on the client and project requirements. However, am more in tune with British than American English

Havard CS50 Course
If you want to become a programmer, not necessarily a developer, you should job the Harvard CS50 program. According to Havard, "CS50 is Harvard University's introduction to the intellectual enterprises of computer science and the art of programming for majors and non-majors alike, with or without prior programming experience. An entry-level course taught by David J. Malan, CS50x teaches students how to think algorithmically and solve problems efficiently. Topics include abstraction, algorithms, data structures, encapsulation, resource management, security, software engineering, and web development. Languages include C, Python, SQL, and JavaScript plus CSS and HTML. Problem sets inspired by real-world domains of biology, cryptography, finance, forensics, and gaming. The on-campus version of CS50x, CS50, is Harvard's largest course." They have started the fall semester, and they are in the fifth week. I think they post a lecture once a week on Tuesday, and you can catch up before they get too far with this year's cohort of students. Once you enrol, you can pay to have David mark your work and assign you a certificate through the Harvard website or EDX here https://www.edx.org/learn/computer-science/harvard-university-cs50-s-introduction-to-computer-science. Here's a list of last year's lectures https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=list=PLhQjrBD2T381WAHyx1pq-sBfykqMBI7V4 and you can find those from this year on the Harvard website

Laravel the top PHP framework?
Laravel does much of the heavy lifting for you, so you can build something robust quite quickly. But I can hamper your growth as a developer if you are always using its inbuilt tool and tools from the ecosystem without understanding how and why they work the way they do. This is why it is always best for people new to Laravel to start with PHP basics and at least learn some OOP before touching Laravel. Doing this will also save you a lot of time in the future as a beginner.

What can mess up a friendship for you?
Lying and not being on the same wavelength on a lot of things. For example, someone might not have the same goals or even not have any goals, and that does not sit right with me unless they rectify it quickly. I have also lost friends because they would not change their minds. I am sorta hard-headed, but I do change my mind if I am presented with new data and information or a new way of thinking. If you cannot listen to reason or change your mind, I do not see how we could be friends.

The Share an SEO Tip Thread.
People sleep on image SEO. File names and alt attributes can make a significant different if you think about them from an SEO and not purely organizational standpoint. They also help make your site more accessible, and Google at one time said accessibility is important for ranking. I am not sure if they still take accessibility as a ranking factor, but these optimizations do not hurt and cost nothing to implement, so why not implement them?

Wordpress VS WP Engine
WP Engine added this to its footer over the last week: "WP Engine is a proud member and supporter of the community of WordPress® users. The WordPress® trademark is the intellectual property of the WordPress Foundation, and the Woo® and WooCommerce® trademarks are the intellectual property of WooCommerce, Inc. Uses of the WordPress®, Woo®, and WooCommerce® names in this website are for identification purposes only and do not imply an endorsement by WordPress Foundation or WooCommerce, Inc. WP Engine is not endorsed or owned by, or affiliated with, the WordPress Foundation or WooCommerce, Inc." The latest viable records from the Wayback Machine are from September 26 and this footer addition does not exist. I just find it interesting they would add this in the middle of everything that is happening.

Google Rolls Out AI-Organized Search Results Pages
SEO experts are having a rough go at it at the moment. With all the algorithm changes Google has done in the last year to AI constantly changing the landscape, things must be really tough on their end. I don't think this is a great plan by Google because of bias. AI works on reinforcement. So if the AI shows specific articles long enough, they will make them the go-to option, and other websites will suffer. But the engineers at Google are much smarter than me, and I would be interested in seeing how they ensure something like this does not happen.

Reuters, CNN add website paywalls
I do a ton of research for different reasons. If I need to read one article, I have to pay a subscription? How many people will say no to paying just to read less than five articles on these sites per year? However, I am sure it will be worth it for those who rely on these outlets much more than people like me do. There's a news website, cant remember which at this time, that lets you "purchase" to read one article for a few pennies. I can see myself paying for something like that if it's on a research website or an article that I really need and cannot find the information elsewhere.

Wordpress VS WP Engine
I had a conversation with someone about WordPress doing something like this when they launched their "hosted" and paid plans. I believe WPEngine is the biggest independent WordPress platform, so they are competing directly with what WordPress is offering on its end. So, why wouldn't WordPress want to take them down a peg to grow its own business? It's stupid and petty, and it will only hurt WordPress and the ecosystem in the end if they do not stop doing this ASAP.

How to Become a Professional Writer
You have a niche? Read and write outside it. Sometimes writers get trapped in their niches and end up working on or writing the same thing over and over again. Read outside you niche to gain different perspectives and you will be a better writer. Also, ask for feedback. No one likes to be criticizes, but I have found both negative and positive feedback to be great ways of becoming a better writer.

What’s a popular movie that you secretly think is overrated?
Inception. If you are making a movie for a 'highly intelligent' audience, then Inception is ok. But for a casual watcher who needs two hours of distraction? Inception is not. Also, Tenet for the same reason.

What Fears Do You Possess?
Mine are drowning and heights. I cannot handle anything more than knee deep or higher than two stories. However, I have swam in the ocean (almost drowned though) and routinely visit the ninth floor of a hospital to deal with my fear of heights.

Do you smoke?
I smoke occasionally, but much more when I am working on a difficult project. I can and do function without smoking, but I find myself more productive when I smoke while working on difficult projects.
