  1. I feel like a small timer here lol. Currently have 2 IC v5 licenses and a XF one. Don't want to get rid of the IC ones as after two years you lose total access to it, which is not a good idea in my opinion.
  2. Matt is definitely up for the Oscar of post economic, professional victim with this.
  3. Managing from desktop is the easiest way of going through your workflow for your site. I've tried it via mobile and it felt that everything took longer and was more of a hassle to me.
  4. Would like to cash in the Adminstrata lottery #2 winnings.
  5. Pretty cool to see these new iterations of forums being built. Especially with those that are moving away from the php/mysql space.
  6. Thinking Woltlab has a really nice default skin, especially the dark mode default. Nothing beats visiting a website and your eyeballs are vaporized out of your skull with light mode. Another contender would have to be Invision Community.
  7. It's been a few months, https://2tonwaffle.forum We're The 2TonWaffle, a community-driven space dedicated to celebrating and exploring the vibrant world of indie gaming and alternative content creation.
  8. I agree in using AI for getting topic ideas for within your forum categories are okay. It's using it as a basis for responses can lead to a lack of understanding from your members or even yourself as the reply wouldn't be from you and you wouldn't remember its context. Thinking the biggest challenge is getting organic traffic and membership into the forums which is a unique niche (in my opinion.)
  9. Using Hostinger currently and I'm not experiencing any issues. Their custom control panel was something to get use too but, after a breif adjustment period I can move around it no problem.

It's much more lightweight than IC which I still love. Having the Fediverse built-in integration is also a great feature to use.
  11. I've looked into the Zapier integration but it needs a 3rd or 4th party service for it to work. Quickly researched if could bypass it and couldn't find anything. NodeBB is a fun system to use and having that Activitypub integration makes it much more usefull for those that are just looking to run a forum without all of the addons and plugins.

The item [plain]The 2TonWaffle[/plain] has been updated: Made the decision in moving the forum over to using NodeBB. My belief is that by using more opden source software while also discussing these and other alternative platforms. It would help in growing a community within this space.
  13. That's really interesting to hear about. You didn't have any issues trying to convert any of them into the final form? I know that many of us joke around about how bad vBulletin is but your experience with them, especially on their cloud plan is something out there. Months long process, I do hope that they are at least keeping you up to date with the process and not just ghosting you.
  14. Have you started your community using a particular software (for example Xenforo or Invivision Community) and thought that you can move your community over to a new forum software? What was the purpose in going this route and how did you and your community make of it? Was the technical side of the move easy for you and your community or did you decide to start anew?
  15. For myself I personally use Ghost. Over the years I've grown tired of Wordpress and and the bloat that eventually weighs it down as you add plugin after plugin. I wanted to just get back to the simple process of creating the content and not having to worry about updating a gazillion plugins to have that flashy site. Not too say that Wordpress is bad but, you can easily get swayed into the black-hole of got to have this plugin and that one and next year the site needs yet another one. Eventually all of it becomes too much. Give me the simple approach and let me focus on the work.
  16. The reasoning is that they're beholden to shareholders now since going public. Shareholders demand that the line goes up at any cost and user experience is something that doesn't bring in money every quarter.
  17. This item has been removed.
  18. What do you look for in regards to how your forum is going before thinking about adding people on as staff? Is it a certain number of members or content? Do you tend to run things yourself and have you gotten to the point in which you were becoming overwhelmed with running your forum.
  19. Have to say in that people are extremely hesitant in trying something that isn't Facebook, Bluesky or whatever. Been working on trying to get a certain type of audience that my forum caters too but, there's no movement on it. I kind of resided in that my feed within the forum is going to see topics made by me all the way down. Only broken up on the occasion I put in a posting package somewhere and that only last a few days at most. I know trying to use Facebook isn't going to help as they are adamant in keeping people within the Facebook walls and, any links going outside of that are all but useless. I just continue on doing what I can and hopefully one day in the future things turn around.
  20. IT's a movement that is spreading to more and more subreddits. Something like this should've have happened long time ago.
  21. My new forum is running off of NodeBB. Have been watching the work being done with adding ActivityPub into the forum structure. Going to be interesting to see how this grows with other forums and bringing more into the mix with places like Mastodon.
  22. This thread is for the general discussion of the item Next Binge TV. Please add to the discussion here.
