Do you need to have a degree to be a professional programmer?
Programming is completely skill based. One doesn't need a degree. It is all about how creative you can be. I doubt anyone would ask for a certificate to give you a programming job. Experience is superior to qualification in the programming gig sphere. A sound degree could be helpful to introduce you to programming as a skill but the rest is completely based on your ability to develop yourself. So many programmers that I know are self taught.

How do you Improve Your Writing?
I make sure that I am constantly reading as a deliberate attempt to improve my writing skills. That helps me to build vocabulary across different genres and niches. I give myself a target of reading at least 5 books every month accross Sci-fi, romance, self help and fiction. I also have an app that suggests phrases everyday to me which I note to add to my word base. I also write book reviews on Online Book Club for free. I do that for their stringent editors to criticise and correct. That helps me to improve my writing based on those corrections.

How to craft a compelling Headlines
When it comes to heading for your content, it is very important that it is gotten right. One might have a very good content but doesn't have a good heading to drive the attention of people. As a content writer, you must be able to craft your heading to catch the attention of readers at a glance. The other extreme is trying to be manipulative with your heading. That is not worth it as you would lose credibility. Just capture the essence of your writing with a powerful heading that would want a reader want to see the content.

How to Create a Content Calendar for Consistent Posting
A content calendar would really help you to stay consistent in your writing. Sometimes, things really get choked up for a writer, and he or she is lost on contents he had hoped to handle for a particular client or platform. A content calendar also helps you to deliver on time. That's because entries would be inserted into the calender based on priority. It is important for any writer that has multiple writing gigs to have a content calendar to help him or her manage writing schedule. It is also important for bloggers because it helps to generate systematic contents.

Effective Techniques for Proofreading and Editing
The thing is that we always want to rush ans turn in our writing work too quickly, and that is why we always submit error plagued writing to clients. It is very important to take a break after writing before editing and proof reading. A day break is ideal. And also, when proofreading, you need to use more than one proofreading tool. As a writer, you should invest in at least one premium version of an editing tool, preferably, grammarly. Get the text read aloud in different accents to examine the tone. It is also important to check for redundancy when trying to edit your written work.

How to Set the Right Freelance Rates?
I personally often consider value as the utmost basis for setting my rates as a freelancer. With that, it is about the worth of my services to the clients. And secondly, I always have a tiered pricing generally for my writing services. That means a client desiring SEO kind of article gets to pay premium. Also, I consider the niche that I am recieving the gig from. There are some niches that are a tad technical, and I charge much higher. Business niche attracts general rates while niches like specific tech writings would surely attract higher prices.

How to Become a Professional Writer
One of the things that has helped me in my journey to becoming a professional writer is the fact that I read a lot. Sometimes, a piece of information I had casually read somewhere years back becomes relevant in a piece of writing that I am handling. And then, every book a person reads leaves an imprint on his or her writing style. It is important to understand the business of writing too in order to succeed with it as a professional. One can also decide to specialize in a niche in writing. I know of people that can write great speeches but can't do an article. And they get paid well for that speciality in speech writing.

AI For Content Writing
I mostly use AI in creating contents when I am writing on a topic or field that is totally strange to me. I use the AI tool to study about that topic and also get insights on what I am to write about. I could also use it to get key points that I use to develop the article. AI also comes in handy when I am handling a writing that needs some historical information like dates of previous happenings. The AI helps me with all those historical facts. I have never used AI though to generate an entire article.

How to find the right niche?
When choosing the right niche, I would advise that you don't do bandwagon. It is better to micro niche. Do a research to know the niches that are not likely oversaturated. Then, see if that niche has a substantial audience to get your message. It is a tad time taking to follow all these processes. It is absolutely worth it though. Arm yourself with adequate knowledge because it would help you deliver excellent marketing messages in that niche. And you should succeed with your affiliate marketing journey with that.

Do you use social media to promote your writing work?
I use Facebook to flaunt my writing skills and services. I write very deeply crafted pieces with sharp intros and post them on my Facebook wall. That always draws attention from Facebook friends who contact for writing jobs. I keep a hilarious diary on X. There, I write on several issues that I feel like writing on but from a hilarious and witty angle. That initiative has earned me so many fans. And they have referred my writing services to lots of people. I find social media a good tool for a writer to promote his or her writing work.

How do you stay motivated when writing is your full time job?
Writing can really be a task that can stress your head. You have to engage your brains and your hands at the same time. It can be really exhausting. It even gets worse when you are writing on a complex niche, you can even feel like giving up, especially when the fountain of words and ideas is not flowing. One thing that writers have to do is to not make writing a burden to themselves. Start your writing tasks much earlier before you need to use it or turn it in so that you can take them in bits. Rest when ideas dry up and most importantly, have a good and sound sleep daily to keep your brain refreshed all the time.

What tips do you have when you edit your own work?
When editing, I really pay attention to the flow of the writing. That is why I would love people with different accents to read the work out for my hearing. Another thing I look out for is redundancy. When you are writing, you might end up using similar words close to each other. I make sure to pay attendance to catch any redundancy. And then, I check the phrasing of the work. Are there sentences that could better be restructured? Finally, I look at the outline to check if the sections and paragraphs link up well.

Do you have someone else proofread your work before you publish it?
I have not really found someone around me who is that proficient to read my writings before I publish. I resort to using digital tools for proofreading. I use Grammarly keyboard first of all to write. From there, I move the writing to Scribbens grammar checker tool. That is in case Grammarly missed any error. After that, I use another tool called Natural Readers to read aloud the writing to my hearing in different accents. That helps to catch errors in punctation And finally, I use the Quillbot Grammar checker to do a final check. With all of these checks, I don't think I need a human proofreader again.

Do you offer pre-written work to clients?
I have never offered a pre written work to a client. It is something that looks to be difficult for me. That's because it would only take a coincidence for your pre written work to match with the topic needed by your client. Pre written client really works well when a writer places his work in the marketplace and attracts a client from there. Just maybe, if you write on current happenings, it would be easier to get a client that would buy pre write articles.

Writing and Mental Health
I actually started writing to battle depression. Whenever I was sad, I allowed the pen do the talking. That was in my growing up days. And before you know it, I was doing professional writing. When I write about my experiences, I leave it all on the piece and it helps my mental health positively.

Have you participated in writing contests?
I have been part of so many writing contests. I have won quite a few and not really had luck with others. I have won the best review for a book on a review writing contest. I have also entered some essay competitions. I did one about feminism and I was first runner up. Writing contests can actually inspire writers.

Freelancing: Primary Income Source or Just a Side Hustle?
I don't think that freelancing is robust enough to be a main income source. There are times that gigs would completely dry up. And sometimes, payment delays. It is a side hustle at best. Even when you are raking in much money freelancing, I won't advise that it should be viewed as a main income. It is no guarantee that one would always have clients frequently. I do freelancing as a side hustle.

Beware of Fiverr Reviews: They're not always real!
As a client seeking to hire a freelancer, you would always need to do a basic sample for me. And if the delivered work is not as good as the sample, I ain't paying. And then, no need to pay in advance. No matter the positive reviews, you get to pay as a client after the work is delivered. There are alternate accounts on Fiverr writing reviews for themselves. If all reviews are perfect, it surely raises a red flag.

Would you consider hiring freelancers for your business?
One thing I do as a freelancer is never to reject a job I can do because of too many orders. There are times that I have too many people orders. And I have had to outsource some to other freelancers. The challenge though is always the outsourced freelancer being able to do the work as good as you would. I have hired other freelancers severally to help me complete orders. I make sure that I verify their work before I turn it in. Thus method has helped me to have more orders and still meet them up.

What's your favorite means for receiving payment?
I have always used crypto to get payments for my freelancing gigs. There are few times that I accept Payeer. That is when crypto is a challenge to the client. It is only once that I have received payment for a freelancing gig using PayPal. Crypto is easy for me to convert to fiat and it is accessible for most people in the world. That's why it is my preferred method of payment.

How long do you store client files?
I generally don't delete the files I develop for clients. They don't take any significant space on my laptop. I just create a folder with the name of the client and leave the files there for as long as. I have actually had a client ask after three years if I still had her work. She was glad I could pull it up for her. I still have works I had done since 2013 on my system. I have done thousands of work since then and the total size of my workplace folder is just 22MB. No need to delete it.

Do You Have an Online Business?
I don't have an online business in the real sense of online business. But I extend my offline business to receive orders from the online space and get them delivered. I have sold a good quantity of my poultry products online. I have a Facebook and Instagram page. I update it regularly and customers contact from there to place their orders. I would say that I extend my online business to sell offline too.

Do you prefer to write about topics that interest you?
I am an agro person by profession and passion, and that is why I would chew up any writing task in that field. But I had learned to be versatile as a writer, and I can take up writing gigs in any topics. I have written about Linux, automobiles, religion, abstract etc. It is strenuous though writing on topics that doesn't interest you. But it is a chance to learn what you don't know.

Do you research before you start writing?
There is no writing that I start without doing at least a basic research. Even if it is a a field that I currently practice, I must do some research before I write. Doing a research pre writing helps me to write authoritatively. I use so many tools to research my writing. Ranging from journals and publications. I also use AI tools to get expanded information before I start a writing task.
