  1. Congrats, guys - and best of luck :) !
  2. Doesn't bother me at all, TBH: I do think an avatar is nice to have, and it helps me to form a connection if there is one, but if somebody chooses not to use one (or just sticks with the default one), I don't really notice.
  3. I don't think so... but I am thankful that MyBB has a 'Purge Spammer' button for new members - for exactly that eventuality :P !

  8. I generally make my own themes. Are they the most professional, polished themes available? No, but they're unique - and I have good fun making them :P .

I would probably have got more into YouTube. During the early 2010s, I ran both a forum and a YouTube channel - and it got to the point where they were both eating up my time, and I really had to pick one or the other. I went with forums, mainly because I had more experience with them, and I couldn't afford the equipment and software that I'd need for a successful YouTube channel (Windows Movie Maker could only get me so far :P !)

  13. BraveNet (Left because it was incredibly limited); Aimoo (Left because a lot of the basic features were only available for premium users); InvisionFree (Stuck with it until it became ZetaBoards); ZetaBoards (Stuck with it until it got taken over by Tapatalk); MyBB (the platform I currently use).

Hi guys, I'm Kyng, otherwise known as CJ. I'm 34 years old, from the United Kingdom, and I work as a software developer. My hobbies and interests include railways, sports (especially Formula One), gaming, and - of course - forumming! I look forward to getting to know everyone here :) .
  16. I do when I'm on the go - and I browse and make quick posts there, but any long-form posts wait until I'm on my PC. I don't know the exact number - but a fairly significant percentage of my forum's members use mobile at least some of the time.
  17. Yeah, I much prefer human-written content. Of course, AI has its place, and I don't mind AI being used at some stage of the process - but I don't want AI doing the thinking.

A bunch of wheat- and dairy-free foods to try.

  21. Ideally yes, but I think what matters most is that they have a passion for their subject area, along with good community management skills. (And of course, if they aren't subject matter experts themselves, then they need to be willing to learn from those who are - because those people are the forum's target audience!)
  22. I haven't done it personally, but my co-admin has. Fortunately, she didn't do anything too harmful: just posted completely incomprehensible gibberish. For example, she called me "vluin of hjottttor": to this day, I have no idea what that means!

My sister's vegetarian recipe book. (I'm really looking for recipes that are wheat- and dairy-free, since I have a suspected allergy to one of those two foods - but quite a lot of the recipes in there are free of those two foods, or can easily be made free of them!)
  24. I took a break for 3 weeks towards the end of 2021, because I was feeling burnt out. I then took another 10-day break in July 2023 - because I was starting to get burned out again - so I thought it was best to take a short break then in order to avoid having to take a longer break later.
  25. Yeah, merging is my preferred choice, for exactly that reason. There are exceptions, of course: for example, if it's a forum game, then I can't really merge the threads without breaking the flow of the existing game. But if there's no good reason not to merge, then I will.
