  1. Definitely you can create shareable content by creating good content. There has to be a strong effort to create quality. I mean, how else can you say it?
  2. Well, it depends on the company. Some big well-known ones like Go Daddy or Hostinger aren't going away tomorrow.

I didn't know that. That's interesting. I do know Forum Promotion has switched hands a few times.
  4. Yeah, but you got to have something serious to offer to get anyone to pay. 😃 It's not that easy. As I said, you'd have to be some "proven" SEO guru or something.
  5. Loans, general loans to be specific, might be easier for people than you think. I had bad credit and got two loans, one for $750 and another for $1000. Anyway, though, banks can still be tough without perfect credit and I don't know how I got those loans (from loan companies, not banks). Note: You do need a good source of income at the least. I have SSI and a new fast food job.

The owner also owns admin-junkies. I stumbled on to this site from his other one. Anyway, I find the place very interesting. @Cedric seems very enthusiastic and committed to his projects.
  7. I can understand the outrage against this. It's because it's a breeding ground for lawsuits. No company wants to be associated with lawsuits. That' a no-brainier.
  8. One example of engagement is hosting forums. A strong hosting forum is a hub for people wanting hosting. Well, that's what you want. You want your site to be a hub for some niche. In that case, it makes it good ground for monetization via ads (works for some niches), classified sites, upgrades, etc. The monetization of hosting forums is via ads and classifieds usually. Tons of hosting companies post ads everyday.
  9. I can't tolerate abusive people. They have to be banned. It's not about being thin-skinned, though, because there's a difference between people with disagreements and abuse by psychos.
  10. The less ads the better and ads work better on some niches (like employment) than others. Myself, I don't like ads outside of certain niches like employment. Ads are something most users dislike (I think that's the case.), so I don't want to be on their bad side. One Exception: Most users on employment sites probably like ads from experience.
  11. I simply don't use forum or blog software that isn't mobile ready by default or via a theme. Anyway, my current software choices: WordPress and phpBB are mobile ready by default. Note: MyBB might be the only or very last of software that is not mobile ready by default, but that can be changed easily with a free or paid theme.
  12. I don't have a real strong set of rules on my forums. The main thing said is that disrespect toward staff and members is not allowed. Anyway, though, I need to add a part on commercial spam. I don't want that either.
  13. I would donate to some forum just to be a pal, a good guy. However, I am living paycheck to paycheck. It's very tough. Anyway, though, I really want to donate to forum mods (as in modifications). For instance, MyBB has been stoked with problems lately that money could fix.
  14. It was some ad-supported thing called 50g (I think. I'm not sure.). It was around 2005 maybe and so I can't remember much about it, only that I uploaded HTML code (It wasn't a blog or forum.). It was a guitar lesson site that I made.
  15. The problem with exclusive content is that you need to establish it as something worth buying. For instance, in another thread, I gave the example of the famous SEO guy. If you're some famous SEO guy, you would have no problem selling exclusive content. The only barrier would be the money required to reach people.
  16. Getting people to update it for you can be costly. It costs so much, it makes it worth it to get a premium software maybe.
  17. If you're running a political or religious forum it might be a good idea, because those topics bring out the bad side in many people. Well, look at the recent murder in Minnesota, for instance. Anyway, another reason for whois protection is because people spam you about your domain. That can be annoying.
  18. I might get discounts paying yearly, but my situation has been paycheck to paycheck, so I always pay monthly. Well, I suppose I could budget things to do yearly, but I haven't made the time.
  19. Paid posting can be a great idea. However, I prefer paid posting for the long haul. I want them around 2 years, honestly, doing the same thing. Anyway, I can't afford that at the moment, but that's the ideal situation.
  20. I don't know if I really agree. People like social media because they are the "Wal Mart of online community". Well, what I mean is that they simply provide a big place where everybody knows about. Note: For those outside the US, Wal Mart is a big chain store that is everywhere in the US, like McDonald's, and has everything seemingly there.

I don't like them unless they are on sites where people "visit primarily for the ads". Well, one such niche is employment. I ran some employment sites and they worked for that reason. Note: an alternative I like for ads is paid classifieds, upgrades, stuff like that.
  22. A lot of this can be done via an enthusiastic owner, but a lot has to be paid because people lack the time these days. Well, there are people who do stuff for nothing, but they all moved to social media.
  23. I run a religious/general discussion community and a new music lesson community. I run these things because I love those niches. I also enjoy talking with people, but you know, these days nobody has the time unless it's via post exchange or a paid deal.
  24. I don't need forum moderators because my projects are too small at the moment. However, though, if I did need them, I'd be willing to pay decently because it's not fair to underpay people. Anyway, I do have a Facebook group that needs a lot of moderation. I was thinking about getting moderator and the things I said above would apply. What is the background requirements? There are plenty of trustworthy people on the forum promotion sites online. Anyway, though, if I need more assurance, I can check their history dealing with customers somehow. Note: I really feel like a reputation system like on DigitalPoint.com is the way to go.
  25. A lot of criticism of me encountered online has been bullying, and while the environment was abusive, some good tips came thru anyhow. Anyway, though, I can handle criticism if done via a respectful environment, but the problem with those environments is that people become "too polite" and they don't give you feedback. It reminds me of restaurants I've been at which were obviously terrible, but given my kind personality, I'm highly unlikely to complain, even anonymously.
