It was initially based on a ZetaBoards theme so going a bit back in the day was definitely the idea. It was a challenge for DohTheme making it work on XenForo, but I'm very happy with the results. :)

Yeah, it seems to be the latest trend. I see them on different forums, sometimes under different usernames, but the same intro post. I've been questioning it too if I should keep them or delete them. In theory they don't do anything wrong. But it's weird. They may be creating fake accounts to use for spam later on. I also noticed as soon as they registered and confirmed the account, they change their email. Very weird behavior.

Honestly, run away. Waste of time. You are being treated as his slave. He doesn’t care, why should you?

I’m a bit surprised you’d go “back” to shared/cloud when you’ve previously owned your own server. But I do understand the ease and decision. That’s what I like doing though. Tinkering around with settings, commands, etc. to improve the server. In the future, I need to update the OS of mine, so that’ll give some downtime for an hour or two here. Just been thinking when I’d do it.

Ozzy247 just released an add on for XenForo - This addon will scan each pm/dm as it is created for keywords you specify in the addons options. This is useful for ensuring your members are not engaging in illegal or unscrupulous behavior on your forum without your knowledge. https://xenforo.com/community/threads/ozzmodz-conversation-dm-keyword-monitor-paid.229872/ A must have when you're concerned about this. - And running XF of course.

Damn, this is not good. We still need forums, it's vital for our content discovery. This new law sure does no good.

Back in 2006, I got my password cracked by someone. It was awful. Definitely learned to have a good password since then. Then in 2008, one of my staff members password got cracked, also doing some serious damage to the forum. Never recovered that completely. We were kids then, and there weren't things like 2FA. It was on InvisionFree. That was a time of 2-3 years where everyone tried to crack anyone. As if that was something to be a "cool kid". Admittedly, I've done the same thing to someone back then, but never did any damage. The guy used his real last name as a password. I've let him know and he changed it. :)

I trust on the honesty of my members saying they’ve completed it. :) I’ll share a screenshot how it looks. The only thing logged is a city where they live, when they don’t enter an email, which is optional. :)

I definitely understand what you're saying. While I think it's an improvement, a few default avatars could give that impression. The add on doesn't allow a random avatar that is automatically set though. So that would mean we'd need to look into custom development and that's not really something that is priority at the moment. But for what it's worth, I'll definitely look into it.
