  5. Very simple approach: You keep it under a minimum post count. This add on can help: https://xenforo.com/community/resources/content-blur-pro-boost-registrations-and-upgrades.7544/
  6. Please excuse the Dealer. He was drunk. 😅 I’ll make sure to correct that.
  7. lol ya, exactly. Still, I'm interested to see how it will turn out.
  8. Have you tried reaching out to Colocation America? They might be able to provide some insight into this activity. It's possible they’re training an AI model or gathering data for another purpose. While it's not unusual for companies in tech to collect such information, this kind of activity is more commonly done by marketing firms than hosting providers.
  9. For a long time, I always preferred the .com ones. But it's so hard to register a decent one that isn't offered as a premium or hasn't been registered before. So, I've let that sail a while ago. I'd still prefer a .com over a .net if it's available, but for Google, it doesn't make one bit difference.
  10. So, the fight of the year most likely. Although I think a lot will be staged. What do you all think ?
  11. We all stumble across random bits of information from time to time - some of which are incredibly useful, and others that are just… well, amusingly pointless. But regardless of their practicality, these facts can often spark interesting conversations or make us smile. In this thread, let’s share some of that quirky, surprising, or even seemingly useless knowledge we’ve picked up over the years. Maybe you know something that’s utterly useless but fascinating, or perhaps there’s a fun fact that has proven unexpectedly useful in your life. Here are a few examples to get things started: Did you know? The shortest commercial flight in the world is between two islands in Scotland, lasting just 47 seconds! Did you know? Honey never spoils; archaeologists have found pots of honey in ancient tombs that are over 3,000 years old and still perfectly edible. What strange, quirky, or surprisingly useful facts do you know? Share them here and let’s enjoy learning something new - or just have a good laugh! :D
  12. All in combination of an 8 hour day job? 🙃
  13. We all agree that developing and maintaining a website or forum can often require a significant financial investment. From securing the essentials to enhancing the user experience. So I’m interested to hear about the experiences of others in the community - how much have you invested in your website or forum, and what were the primary areas of spending? Don't forget about: Domain Registration and Renewal: Have you opted for a standard registration, or invested in a premium domain? Hosting Services: A reliable host is the foundation of any website. Have you chosen shared hosting, VPS, or even dedicated servers? Have you found a provider that’s proven worth the investment? Feel free to share. Licenses: For those using paid forum software or CMS, licensing fees can be substantial. Have you invested in licenses such as XenForo, Invision Community, vBulletin, or other platforms? Add-ons or Plugins: Plugins and add-ons can greatly increase our experience. What "extensions" have you found valuable, and what have they cost over time? Design and Customization: A visually distinct and well-branded site can set a community apart. Have you worked with designers, invested in custom themes, or commissioned graphics? Marketing and Advertising: Expanding reach often requires paid promotion. Have you invested in ads, social media campaigns, or sponsored posts? For those willing to share, what has your total investment been, and do you feel these expenses were justified? Are there any areas where you would have approached things differently? Your insights might be invaluable for others planning their next steps in building a successful site or forum.
  14. IRC

I have never used IRC before. I used MSN, Skype and eventually Discord since 2016. I do like Telegram. It has a very nice user interface.

This past year, my main goal has been to become more financially stable, though it's been challenging with more downs than ups. By April, I should finally be in a better position to make progress. I have a loan ending in February, and with my daughter starting school in April, daycare expenses will end too. Altogether, this will free up over €1000 each month, allowing us to save more by the end of 2025 than we initially planned. My second goal is to enjoy life more. I recently lost my mother-in-law at only 56, a reminder that life can end any day. Lastly, I want to continue building Administrata into a larger, more supportive community that empowers fellow admins to the best of our ability.
  16. To be frankly, it's probably too soon to open your community. Have you gotten any audience that you can target before you opened your forum? Organic traffic builds up very slowly. It takes months to years to gain some noticeable traffic. Which website are you talking about here? We can probably help guide you, but it's not an overnight solution as you may well be aware of.
  17. I don't know how you do it, I struggle managing three, lol.
  18. I’m suspecting it’s a newly registered domain? It usually takes a few weeks until it’s no longer considered spam. And even then some users can still have it in their spam. Gmail and others also require you to add an spf record to the DNS.
  19. It all starts with the IP. If the IP is blacklisted, then there’s literally nothing that you can do.

For some reason when ChatGPT makes text in images, it’s in half Russian. Wait.. are Russians hacking ChatGPT?! 😳😱

That looks cosy, I definitely dig that!
  22. Running a forum or website is a lot of work. You could make it your daytime job (if you're lucky to have a lot of income) But how much time do you actually spend on it each week? Do you find yourself checking in all day long or just once in a while? Is it mostly about managing users, keeping everything updated, or creating new content? Some things to think about: Daily check-ins: Are you on the site every day, or do you just log in when you need to? What do you usually do when you’re there? Content creation: How often are you creating new posts, threads, or anything else to keep your site fresh? Moderation: How much time do you spend making sure everything’s running smoothly, like handling spam or dealing with issues? User engagement: Do you spend time replying to members, starting discussions, or running events? Technical stuff: Are you fixing bugs, installing updates, or doing other tech-related tasks? Promotion: How much time do you put into promoting your site, whether through ads, social media, or just word of mouth? Feel free to share - how much time do you spend on your site each week, and where do you focus most of your energy?

    You often act grey though.
  24. I haven't updated my business website in a few years now. Apart from the automatic updates. But I need to find some motivation to redesign the complete website. Maybe next year. :ROFLMAO:
