Are controversial topics a key to engagement?
Every community leader wants an active community where members are constantly engaging. But let’s face it - controversial topics often get people talking faster than anything else. Think about it’s heated debates, polarizing opinions, or sensitive subjects, these discussions seem to spark more interaction than everyday chatter. We'll take it to the test:

Normal questionControversial question

How do you encourage shy members to participate more in discussions? Are lurkers ruining your community?

What’s the best way to enforce community rules fairly? Are community rules killing creativity and engagement?

How do you grow your community while keeping it active and engaged? Is prioritizing growth over quality a mistake?

How do you keep members coming back to your community? Are giveaways and rewards cheapening real engagement?

Are controversial topics a key to engagement? Are controversial topics exploiting your community for engagement?

Do you see the difference in the tone and how you'd respond to these questions, while they have the same topic? Some thoughts: Do controversial topics create meaningful engagement, or do they just fuel drama? Can encouraging these discussions strengthen your community, or does it risk dividing members? How do you balance open debate with maintaining a welcoming, respectful environment? Should leaders allow all types of controversy, or are there some topics that should always stay off-limits? What do you think?

How do you identify potential moderators for your community?
Identifying potential moderators for your community is an important step in building a strong and supportive team. Behind a great forum is a .... indeed - great staff team. Thus, a great moderator isn’t just someone who follows the rules - they’re someone who actively contributes to the positive culture of your space, without the need to ask. But knowing who’s ready for that responsibility can be a challenge thing. So perhaps we could all gather some insights how to identify such great asset to your team. Consider these questions: What behaviors do you look for when deciding if someone would make a good moderator? How do you determine if a member is ready to take on leadership responsibilities? Do you think it’s better to approach potential moderators or let them volunteer themselves? Why? What role does a member’s personality and communication style play in your decision-making? Choosing the right moderators can have a huge impact on your community’s success. So let’s talk about how you approach finding those key people and what qualities you think make someone stand out for the role.

Invisioneer
Valid point is my middle name. Not but seriously though, v5 removed the ability to have hooks, which made plugins more easy to develop as far as I know. It seems they want to get rid of the ability to customize altogether as time goes.

Invisioneer
For those who may not know, Invisioneer was born out of Invision Community's decision to discontinue hosting plugins. While I still believe that wasn’t the wisest choice on their part, it led to the creation of this platform, and here we are today, making the best of it! I do wonder how much is going to be left that we'll see being brought over to v5 though.

I don't blame you. His attitude is often inappropriate and it doesn't matter who you are. You're not the first he has problems with and will definitely not be the last. In a business perspective, that is hurting XF's business.

What topic on your forum has the most replies?
It really depends on the subject. Some topics aren't destined to be long topics without derailing from the original post. Some questions aren't debates. And you can only say so much about a certain subject. So, it's natural to have topics like "what are you listening to?" grow bigger than your core niche discussions. They're easy to reply to. If those general topics score good, I wouldn't work against them or not encourage them. They're great for generating some activity, community bonding, etc.

How often do you check Google Analytics/Search Console?
They do in a way. Digitalpoint released a Better Google Analytics add on; https://xenforo.com/community/resources/digitalpoint-better-google-analytics.8752/ If you run through Cloudflare, you also want to have this: https://xenforo.com/community/resources/digitalpoint-app-for-cloudflare-r.8750/

What’s the best way to deal with negative behavior from members?
Paul does that a lot. His attitude towards clients is often questionable. Even when you need support through their official channels.

It's just an observation, but damn XenForo admins sure can complain and see problems where there aren't any. I'm almost beginning to pity the devs.

Invision Community v5 enters Beta
Holy crap, beta 6 already. Forum looks great! I'm still on beta 4, lol. Although, it's not really an open forum, so haven't checked it much the last two weeks. Still, it's nice to see they're pushing new releases every week. I also wish there wasn't an issue with 8.3x. The issue is that I have to manually do the upgrade instead of doing the ACP automatic update, which works perfectly with 8.2x.

How many threads do you need to make on a daily basis?
I also agree with that. Sometimes (and I've done this recently) is just to take a step back and let members create discussions. So it doesn't all come from one direction. I still stand firm with the expression "lead by example" but it's also important to let other take the lead.

The current editor is indeed very limited to what you can do. It's painful to add more than one image, and even then, the headers usually don't make it appear as you want. Leaving a huge white space under it. But yes, the fact that you need to purchase multiple licenses isn't really helping either. Guess you'll need to make your own editor. :D

Feature requirements help please
Sounds like a promising project. But one that will definitely keep you occupied for a while. I like what you want to do, especially the drag and drop thing. But I also think introducing a new editor will not come without it's limitations and frustrations. So maybe it's best to wait for the TipTap editor? I dunno. If you think you can add another editor into it like Wordpress, then I'm definitely excited there. A mix of AMS, XenPorta and even this add on from XenCustomize with the ability to drag and drop, different editor, sounds perfect to me. Wish I could tell more or give you more directions or feedback, but that's about what I can say until I see more. :P

XenForo 2.4 coming soon?
I didn’t expect it to go in that direction, but I’m not upset about it either. Every now and then, I go through all the installed add-ons to check for updates. While I keep a closer eye on the more important ones, I tend to update the smaller ones all at once occasionally. Having a one-click install option and update notifications certainly wouldn’t be a bad thing.
