Over the past few months, I’ve felt it creeping in — that quiet, nagging burnout. The kind that slowly pulls the excitement out of running a community, one slow update at a time. For a while, I tried to ignore it. Tweaking things here and there, customizing what I could, hoping for a spark, even a bright new custom theme. But it just wasn’t hitting like it used to.

And then came the decision: we're migrating from XenForo to Invision Community.

And let me tell you - it’s been a blast.

The transition has completely reignited my passion for community building. It feels fresh again. Purposeful. Like I’m back in the early days of forum management, only now with tools that actually push the experience forward.

Let’s be honest: XenForo’s development has become a bit of a joke. It’s glacially slow, and what we’re getting lately? Dev tools. Not features that help community owners build better communities or attract new members. Just backend tweaks and things your average admin won’t ever use — or even care about. The latest HYS (Have You Seen?) was basically a love letter to developers. Cool, but not helpful for those of us trying to actually grow a platform.

Where’s the innovation for admins? Where are the tools that help us surface great content, reach new audiences, and make the platform feel alive again? In a time when content discovery is more important than ever, XenForo just... misses the mark.

Invision, on the other hand, is reminding us what professional-grade community software should feel like. It’s more refined, more focused, and frankly, just better at putting content front and center. And that’s what matters. Because at the end of the day, people don’t come for your layout. They don't care about your bells and whistles — they come for what’s being said, shared, and created.

It's really just about Content. Visibility. Growth. Giving your community a stage, not hiding it behind aging frameworks and outdated priorities.

Here’s to turning the page. Here’s to a platform that gets it.

I'm so happy to see Administrata being powered by Invision Community! There's so many cool features that will benefit the community from this move and on top of that you've got a dev team that actually continues to care and update the platform on a more consistent basis. Here's to the new and improved Administrata!
