For discussions that don't fit other prefixes.

I am a member on a couple of Christian forums. I am also a member on forums where they allow respectful religious discussion. However, religion does not seem to be very popular among community leaders.

Religion is a popular niche on social media. Even on YouTube, you can see a lot of religion based channels and they are very popular, especially the channels that share inspiring stories or teachings. But what about forums?

A religion-focused community could be worthwhile if it offers value, like deep discussions, learning resources, inspiring stories from the books, comparative study of religions, and respectful conversations. If managed well, such forums can attract traffic, engagement, and monetization opportunities through ads, memberships, or affiliate links.

Would you join or build a religion-based forum?

I've been registered to one and I didn't like the community there. It was christianity oriented but they never wanted to hear out anything about Islam, for instance. I am not a muslim but the toxic environment was not my cup of tea. I think that I never met a religious person who was not zealot like.

I personally would not as I'm not really religious nor do I really care to read about a lot of religious things to be honest. I'm not against religion and I think that it can be an amazing thing for some people it just isn't for me. Another reason I wouldn't really join a religious thread nor I would I create a religious forum is I wouldn't really know what to post or have any idea what to talk about as I'm not religious myself.

I find myself in your shoes. I once joined a Christianity forum and in the introduction I wrote I was Hindu and I was interested in comparative study of religion. There were over 100 replies on my introduction thread and some of the posts were offensive.

I find religion very interesting. I like to read interpretation of the holy books, I like to read the history of religious, I like to read religious philosophies. You don't have to be religious to run a religious forum, if you are interested in religion, you might find religious discussion very interesting. However, the problem is many people start offending others. People seem to take it very personally. They find it hard to stay withing the intellectual discussion. For instance, if you read comments on this thread, you will understand what I am trying to say.

Depends. I am not supporting them. :D

There you go.

Absolutely not. Religion is a super sensitive and edgy topic;

I have a religion/spirituality section on my forum, and (along with politics) it's by far the topic that requires the most moderation. In my experience, people can't help but get close and personal about it. It often ends in flame wars and temporary bans.

I couldn't imagine having an entire forum dedicated to religion. It would be a moderator's nightmare, no doubt.

Or it's just one big echo chamber with the occasional new person saying they believe in another religion then they get bombarded by others. Yeah not a good subject for a forum for me at least, it's understandable if others who are faithful to their religion want to make their own space to discuss their beliefs with no criticism or censorship but eh sounds like a headache IMO.
