What's your biggest legal concern as a community owner?

Running a community comes with its fair share of legal responsibilities, from ensuring user privacy to handling content disputes. For many community owners, the legal side can feel overwhelming, especially as laws evolve and new regulations are introduced.

Now with the new OFCOM law, we see many community owners just throwing in the towel. They're giving up.

So, is it about making sure you're fully compliant with privacy laws like GDPR or CCPA/OFCOM? Or maybe it’s dealing with the complexity of copyright, trademark, and intellectual property issues? Perhaps it’s handling user-generated content without getting into legal trouble, or keeping your community safe from harmful behavior while respecting free speech?

What’s the legal headache that keeps you up at night, and how are you managing it?

My community is related to online gambling/poker, and there's legislations involved when operating a poker site. Some countries are banned to avoid legal issues from sites I play, and partner with.

As someone who runs a gaming forum I could run into copyright issues if members start posting links to ROM hacks. To negate this problem, I often allow members to send links to patches for ROMs rather than sharing links of patched ROMs. Most companies usually don't get too upset by ROM hacks but the ones that do, specifically Nintendo, will go after websites if they catch wind of anyone sharing ROM hacks of their games.
