New Forum Started: Role Play!

This is the first time I've put together a forum specifically for the pleasure of role playing. Usually I'll just add a section for role playing, but my latest creation is going to be an immersive creative writers haven-- assuming that those writers adore magical girls. I've had this idea for a long time, I was just never sure how I wanted to proceed with it, but after dabbling with various role playing directory forums over the past month, I think I figured out a strategy. Whether it'll work, who knows, but I've gotta at least give it a shot, right?

I'm eventually going to move over to XenForo like I originally planned-- assuming the forum takes off and I actually get some active members. Otherwise, why bother sinking money into something that's dead, right? At any rate, I'm have fun, and that's all that matters, true? But for right now, I'm just going to use SMF with the Reseller theme, only because it's responsive and looks pretty clean.

And I'm pretty sure there are a ton of other improvements that can be done. So why not just try to knock them out in the beginning stage? I'm pretty proud of the site banner. Your forum looks awesome Senkusha! I'm a Larper myself so I'm not too big into text based roleplaying and the only magical girl anime I got into was Sailor Moon thanks to my wife lol. Best of luck with it! You should definitely promote it on Reddit and Lemmy if you haven't yet!

I haven't had too much success using Reddit. People claim they're interested, then vanish, despite multiple "ping" requests.

I have been a member on a few role playing forums, and based on my personal observation, I think it is very closed niche. All the forums I have been on are struggling with members and activities. A lot of people start a forum on the niche they are passionate about but to run a successful forum, the chosen niche also should be something that a lot of people are interested in.

Well, I am not discouraging you, and I might not be very right. I wish you success.

Lemmy might be better, since it's a Reddit alternative and a good number of people are wanting to stay away from the big traditional platforms. Also maybe try Bluesky, I'm not sure if you can reach an audience there but the more platforms you promote your forum on the better IMO!
