So, you’ve set up your forum with a sleek theme and some starter threads to get things rolling… What comes next?

Based on your experience, what steps have you taken (or would you take) to spark activity and bring your community to life once the doors are open?

I am at that particular point on my forum. Basically some more checking and testing, but basically a whole lot of posting.

I already setup some Google tools so now I am discoverable somewhere on the serps.

But I expect many months of content building with few members.

I dont want to spam my name on websites everywhere. For now I will let it be organic.

I was gunning for the same thing. But, I didn't realize that RS was on Google's Safe Content search list for a minute (as I have mine off), which explained the non-existent SEO growth. 💀

Numbers since rebranding have multiplied by factors.

This is one thing that I'm sort of unsure of myself if I'm honest. The one forum I did have that grew to be really big grew from me literally starting it on my own with about 10 threads to asking my brother to join and help post. I then got two friends I knew online to join too, and for a week or two it was just us four. We were then found by a handful of people and over the course of a year or so somehow grew to become a community of thousands upon thousands. Honestly - I still don't quite know how it happened. Sure, I did some basic advertising, and I used Google Ads a bit when we started to get a small income - but how it got to even that point I still don't quite know. Just a mystery really. Or luck. Who knows. :)

Just checked my domains for good measure. I'm safe.

As long as your domain doesn’t contain explicit language or profanity, it’s unlikely to be flagged under safe search filters. The same principle applies to your content: if there’s excessive profanity, it may trigger safe search restrictions. However, a few instances of mild language here and there generally won’t result in your site being labeled as such.
