I hate facebook alerts

It just came to my attention how much I deeply hate alerts on facebook. Especially the ones where when you are in a group or follow a page and the admin tags @followers. I don’t care about them. I hate it.

And I know this may come off as ironic since I often do it here with the tag “everyone”. But I don’t mind it on forums. Anyone feel the same way? Perhaps this is just a rant topic for facebook rather than the use of tags. Idk.

I've said elsewhere that I have an intense hatred for Facebook that's slowly developed over the last 10 years or so. It's got to the point now that I don't use Facebook at all personally, and only go on it for work purposes.

When I was younger and was a frequent Facebooker, nothing would frustrate me more than "liking" a page only to be incessantly spammed by the page admin with repeated notifications and tags. I vaguely remember one day sitting down with the intention of "unliking" all pages I'd liked to stop all these notifications (if I remember, this was before you could disable notifications for individual pages), and after an hour or so of unliking and realising I still had thousands to go, giving up.

I absolutely don't mind being tagged and notified on a forum - it's a different sort of situation. Also, most forums offer the ability to turn off notifications and have pretty good notification systems.

I have disabled notifications as well for many things, pages, groups. Even the things where facebook tags you for “you might be interested in..” ffs. I’ll determine if I’m interested or not. The more I block, the more notifications I get. It’s ridiculous and it annoys me soooo much! Their algorithm obviously needs work.

It’s also annoying how most of your page followers don’t see all of your posts.

With that being said, I hate their alerts system too. Don’t tag me in a group message.

If i wanted to see it, I’d look at the group myself.

I’m tired of logging into facebook and most of my alerts are just from groups!

Or even the messenger ones, where you’re invited to a group chat.

Or when you follow a certain page and see after some time that it’s being taken over by some scam/spam account where the content is nothing like before.

The more I think about it the more I want to delete it. But the sad part is I can’t, since I’d lose so much memories and photo’s that are dear to me.

Their algorithm is working as designed. It was just never designed for our benefit.

I find it annoying too, there's a good number of pages that I follow that have started tagging everyone in their posts. I've seen it in groups too, and I'm like "bro I don't care I just follow you for fun and don't need to know what you're up to all the time." I only use Facebook to keep in touch with my family since they won't move to any other platform.

I stopped using fb. It's something that old people use (in my opinion). All new generations moved to IG and Tiktok for purposes of promoting their business. I know that whatsapp, IG and facebook are owned by same company (META) but fb is super old.
And yes, notifications are garbage with those tag everyone from groups...
