Have you had success with social media advertising to drive traffic to your website?

Social media advertising is something that I do quite frequently to help drive traffic to my websites but it's not always easy to target the correct audience and sometimes, social media marketing attempts do not always go to plan.

What success have you had in advertising your website to drive traffic? Has there ever been a time when you have used social media and the traffic results have shocked you?

I've never been successful with social media, but then again I haven't dedicated as much time as I probably should have. I think to really get a site popular through social media that a lot of energy needs to go into getting followers and then giving them reason to keep following, or even sharing posts/information. That can be a full time job in itself!
