Do you have a system for tracking your spending?

Do you have a system for keeping track of where your money goes each month? Like, do you use an app, a spreadsheet, or just kind of keep a mental note of what you're spending on?

I usually don't track my spending very closely.

I do not. I keep checking my bank account and slow my spending based on how much is left there.

If I were in a more independent standing, I might do this.

I don't but I honestly should get an app or start up a spreadsheet. I need to learn to budget my money better. I know there's apps like Rocket Money that helps you find subscriptions you're not using that you might have forgotten about and helps budget your money.

I primarily use a spreadsheet and I track all my income and expenditures down the penny. I've also been known at times to use a database and budgeting software to help me find patterns and flag unnecessary spending. Living so close to zero, budgeting like this is a necessity, much like breathing. And while I have managed to build a tiny buffer in food stores, a critical error on my calculations could cost significantly.
