I only allow links that are non promotional (not a referral or affiliate link). I allow links that are being used as the source of the information in the post. What about you, do you allow links within the post in your forum? Are there any rules about links in posts?

I am happy to allow my members to post links if they are linking back to a site where they got the information from or if they are advertising their own website if that is something I allow on my forum.

I don't allow the posting of affiliate or referral links though and I am always checking posts to be sure someone has not come back later to edit their post and add in such links.

I allow my members to share links in post, but I don’t allow spammers to do so.

Especially members that are sharing content from other sites.

I allow members to share links, as long as they're not spamming the forum. If it adds to the conversation in a thread that's even better!

If they're blantantly creating a post just to advertise where they're not allowed to, it will likely be deleted. Otherwise, I will allow a majority of links in posts as long as they're not malicious.
