Administration
We've all had those days where a drink (or twenty) seems like the perfect way to unwind. But then, somehow, you end up at your forum or website, thinking you can tackle work. Big mistake? Probably. But who hasn't done this before?

You might think sending that “new policy” email at 2 am is brilliant, but trust me, it’s not. How about some embarrassing messages?

What are some questionable actions you've done or messages you've sent when you were drunk?

I remember one of the first times I ever got drunk as a teenager. I was 15-16 years old and had not long began my football forum, we were reasonably sized at the time with probably 40-50 daily active members. I got drunk on New Years Eve (probably 2013, so I was 16 at the time) and decided it'd be a good idea to post a thread with some pics of me having a drink with a friend in the off-topic section of the forum.

Obviously, it didn't go down too well when members realised the admin was a 16 year old kid and most of them were either in their later teens or 20s, and I took a little bit of stick. All of it seemed in jest, but where I was drunk, I'd decided I'd had enough of two particular members jokes and issued them warnings with 24 hour posting bans.

Upon waking in the morning and seeing the reaction of others (there was about a 15 page thread in the off-topic forum discussing it), I quickly realised I'd made an error of judgment. It was the only time as an admin or moderator I've ever publicly apologised for a moderation decision I made. One of the members later went on to become a section moderator for one of our league forums, so it thankfully didn't have a lasting impact and I continued to get ribbed about it every now and then for the lifetime of the site.

Back when I used to get drunk, I got on forums a lot. I got to a point where I was drinking to ease pain. That pain is long gone, and I don't drink anymore but it used to be pretty bad.

At times, I said stuff I didn't mean when I drank and used forums. Sometimes, I'd be confrontational. I'd always feel bad about stuff the next day. It just wasn't a good mix.

Nowadays, I don't drink, at all. I just don't have any use for it. I've watched a lot of my family members ruin their lives over alcohol. I don't fault anyone who chooses to drink but it's not for me.

I haven't done it personally, but my co-admin has.

Fortunately, she didn't do anything too harmful: just posted completely incomprehensible gibberish. For example, she called me "vluin of hjottttor": to this day, I have no idea what that means!
