I rather have real discussions with actual members on my forum. I'm sure Google prefers that too, and I don't want my forum to get penalized for AI content.
Ask them to be more active. If not find a new staff member. I don't mind if my staff don't post a lot, but I do require them to have an active presence in my community.
Forums take a lot of dedication. I think a lot of forum owners have too many forums, and they should focus on one forum. I do have two forums, but I definitely focus on one forum more than the other.
Right now it's only me and @Cpvr on my staff. I need to be very cautious with who I bring on my team. Reputation is everything in the gambling niche. He does help me advertise my forum, and teaches me tricks with SEO to help me rank my site.
I define growth by member counts, posts, and daily activity. I like to set post, and member goals I like to achieve to keep myself motivated to grow my community.
My forum is bigger than money. I'd turn down big offers for my poker forum if I receive any in the future. I want to see my goals through, and always own my community. I also have a huge vision, and I know there is a ton of potential in my community.

It's fun to start your own community, and I think it's more rewarding if you build a big board from the ground up. I'd only consider buying a forum if I had the time to manage another one.
